Workplace Safety is a National Priority

Each year more than 85,000 injuries are reported in Queensland workplaces causing disruption to the lives of those injured, their families and workplaces which result in costs that run into the billions of dollars.

At the launch of Safe Work Australia Week, the Australian Safety and Compensation Council have made workplace safety a national priority. Safe Work Australia Week will be held nationally from 21 to 27 October.

Safe Work Australia Week is a national week to focus attention on workplace safety issues around Australia. It aims to encourage all working Australians to get involved in, and concentrate on, safety in their workplace to reduce death, injury and disease.

Have a look at some examples of workplace situations where intervention by safety and health officers averted damages, loss, injuries, and even deaths.
 
The Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OHSA) has updated its "Making a Positive Difference" webpage with new examples of how compliance safety and health officers save lives.
