Free Promotional Items for Safe Work Week
07 September, 2007
What if I don't have a budget for Safe Work Australia Week events?
Your event doesn't need to cost a lot of money or require a lot of time to plan.
It can simply be a single activity to get people involved and thinking about workplace safety.
You can get involved by participating in a safety event in your state or territory
or by conducting a safety activity in your own workplace. By organising a safety
event in your workplace you can begin to highlight to your employees the importance of safety and the role that everyone plays in making safety a priority at work.
Incorporating safety into our everyday work practices and making it a daily consideration not only improves occupational health and safety (OHS)performance, but it has a very significant effect on productivity.
Free promotional items such as pens, post-it notes, magnets and lanyards are available from the Australian Safety and Compensation Council (ASCC) website to distribute to your staff. Employer kits can also be downloaded or ordered on CD and include logos, posters, media releases and a PowerPoint template that can be co-branded by your organisation.
What kind of activities can I organise?
Some fun and informative activities you can organise to encourage staff to participate in Safe Work Australia Week are:
Safety BBQ hosted by your OHS representatives for all staff
Best-dressed safety gear competition
Design a safety poster competition with the winning design produced and displayed around your workplace
Conduct a safety seminar over morning tea to review your organisation's OHS policies and procedures.
Where can I find more information?
Visit the ASCC website www.ascc.gov.au to get ideas for safety activities, download the employer kit to assist you in organising your workplace events and order free promotional products to give to your staff. You will also find links to your state and territory Safe Work Australia Week activities.
